I live in the North of England with my young family and I've been practising small-scale suburban self sufficiency for over a decade now.
I created bournebright in 2020 as a private membership association dedicated to sharing what I'd learned so far.
Originally, it was a way to document my learning and share it as I worked towards getting completely off-grid by the end of 2025.
Since then, and as things have changed in the world around us, it has grown into a popular online resource serving over 10,000 visitors each month looking to become more self sufficient in their lives, no matter where they are in the world or how much land they have.
At Bournebright, you'll find self sufficiency training courses, the suburban self sufficiency magazine, articles, guides, reviews, videos, supplies, and an active community dedicated to helping you become more self sufficient in food, energy, income and health.

Bournebright is not just a complete online resource for sub urban self sufficiency, it is a philosophical way of life that seeks to imagine and create a brighter future via the practical application of traditional skills and conscious intention.
We know the world is messed up at the moment; but that doesn't mean you can't do things in your own life that can help change course for all.
We can create a brighter future, for that is the gift we were all given when we arrived here; but first we must remember and honour our past, regain control of our present, and return to a simpler, more meaningful and purposeful way of life.
In doing this, we will realise we were never really lost at all.
