What I Like/Dislike About Eglu Go Up
As you've probably gathered by now, I'm rather smitten with the Eglu Go Up.
From ease of assembly and maintenance to the brilliant raised design providing better ventilation and predator protection, it's just a winner all around.
The optional wheel set is also a blessing, making it convenient to move the coop as you please.
But as with all things in life, there's always room for improvement.
My 2 dislikes;
- The automatic coop door add-on doesn't fit onto the coop housing. It does fit onto the run though so you can lock your chickens in the run automatically at night but it would have been nice to have this fit the coop.
- The price. But should you complain if a really great product costs more than an average product? Maybe not, but it may prove to be a barrier for some.

In my 3 years of chicken keeping, I've never seen my chickens turn in before the sun starts to go down so I'm not sure on that one.

Not according to Annie, a 59-year-old backyard chicken keeper who got the coop up and running with surprising ease! She says it's all thanks to well-labelled parts and clear instructions that make assembly a walk in the park.

When we built the Eglu Cube, it took us about 4 hours all in and there were two of us.

OK, as much I love this chicken coop, let's get real for a moment.
The Eglu Cube is indeed fabulous, but it's not flawless.

I did get sent an incorrect part with mine (front corner of the run), which was quickly resolved with a support call although because Omlet distributes everything centrally, depending on your location, you might have a bit of a wait on your hands for any replacement parts.
Cleaning, as with all the omlet eglu chicken coops, is straightforward thanks to the easy-to-remove droppings tray and roosting bars. Definitely a stropke of genius in design.
Although it's easy to clean out droppings, you can get a chicken smell hanging around which can be controlled with sawdust or just keeping your coop regularly cleaned. I'd recommend cleaning once or twice a week at a minimum.
The Eglu Go is a champion of all seasons; come rain, shine or snow. Its insulation keeps your chickens comfortable through summer’s heat or winter's chill.
Having had mine for over 3 years in both hot summers and freezing winters, I can say for sure that the chickens don't suffer in either due to any fault or design flaw in the coop.
Pricing
Compared to the other omlet eglu chicken coops, I think the pricing on the Eglu Go is very affordable.
Starting at $375 or £295 makes this one of the cheapest starting points for any of the omlet coops. However, there is a caveat.
That price is for the basic coop house and you really do need to add the 6ft run unless you're planning to let them free range the backyard.
With the run added, you're looking at $585 which is fair for an excellent quality, durable and stylish coop that will keep your chickens safe from predators.
You can opt for the wheels add-on too and that will take you up to $660 which starts pushing the upper limits for most people. However, if you only have a small garden and you don't want your chickens to destroy any particular part of it, the wheels might be a necessity.
So yes, whilst the Eglu Go with all of it's extras added on might seem a bit pricier than other chicken coops, you do have the option to add as required.
But, considering its innovative features, ease of cleaning, and durability (with most eglu coops lasting over 10 years in lifespan), it is a worthwhile long-term investment for your backyard farm – especially with inflation creeping up the way it is.
What I Like/Dislike About the Eglu Go
I did mark this an 8 because the Eglu Go shines in its entry price-point, portability, ease of cleaning, and its ability to adapt to different weather conditions.
It's versatile, suitable for both chickens and ducks, and it's a great solution for introducing new birds to your existing flock or providing a safe space for vulnerable ones.
However, no product is perfect. The lack of an automatic door and occasional assembly difficulties could be improved. Also, if you have a larger flock, you might find its size a bit limiting.
I wouldn't buy it over the Eglu Go Up coop either because the Go, for all of it's excellent features, is still on the ground and the Go Up just makes the daily chores of keeping chickens more enjoyable (because they're less cumbersome to get ‘down' to).

I must clarify here though that the design of the classic is still exceptional and it looks great, but you can get better functionality for the same price with another coop, which is why it gets a 6 out of 10.
